Small-format veterinary cartons carry dosing, batch and species copy on a much smaller panel than a human medicine carton. A custom veterinary carton on reverse tuck end construction is specified for carton widths up to 60 mm, cut from Folding Box Board 250-300 gsm so the narrow panels keep their shape through folding and stay stiff on a clinic shelf.
The constraint is the panel, not the press. Dielines reserve the text block and any Braille field on the widest available panel, and type size is confirmed on a 1:1 white draw before plates are made. Scores on narrow panels are set against the board caliper so the fold does not crack the print.
Animal health ranges often run many strengths and species variants at low volume each. Digital printing covers those variants without a plate set, and one dieline can serve a family of strengths where only the copy changes between cartons.

- Mandatory copy stays readable on a narrow panel, because the text block is reserved on the dieline and type size is confirmed on a 1:1 draw before plates.
- Narrow panels fold without cracking, with scores set against the board caliper rather than carried over from a wider carton.
- Print version control and change notification: every artwork revision is version-locked and released against a signed proof, so a superseded print cannot reach your line.
- Batch traceability with retained samples: each lot is recorded against its board reel and print run, and a retained sample is held so any question can be resolved against the actual production piece.
- Written quality agreement and open audit: we sign the quality agreement and open the production floor to your audit team, including artwork, printing and packing areas.
- Companion animal tablet and chew cartons
- Poultry and swine medication cartons in small formats
- Veterinary supplement and probiotic cartons
- Clinic-dispensed unit cartons for small animals
- Strength and species variants within one product family
Can Braille be embossed on a panel this small?
Yes, with placement on the widest available panel. The Braille field is set with Marburg Medium dot spacing and checked at 1:1 to confirm the dots fit inside the panel width without touching the fold.
How are many low-volume species variants handled?
Variant copy goes to digital printing, so a strength or species change does not need a plate set. The dieline stays the same across the family, which keeps the carton footprint identical between variants.
Is Folding Box Board suitable for a carton this small?
Folding Box Board 250-300 gsm gives the stiffness a narrow panel needs and folds cleanly at short score distances. Caliper is chosen against fill weight and how the carton is displayed at the clinic.
How do you prevent a superseded artwork version from being printed on our next run?
Artwork is version-locked at release. Every revision is registered against a version number and released against a signed proof, and the superseded plate is withdrawn from the press area, so the file on our system and the file on your line carry the same version. A written change notification is issued before the next run starts.
What happens if a defect is found after our lot has shipped?
Your lot number resolves to the board reel and print run that produced it, and a retained sample from that lot is held on file. We pull the retained sample and the inspection record for the batch, compare them against the signed proof, and report what the production piece actually looked like.
